Privacy Statement

No cookies, no tracking, no consent banner. Here is exactly what this website does with your data.

Who is responsible

This website is run by Rob op den Kelder, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) under number 88664236. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

In short

  • This website sets no cookies.
  • There is no advertising, no social media tracking and no cross-site tracking.
  • Visitor statistics are collected without cookies or other identifiers, so they can't be linked to you as a person.
  • Your data is never sold or shared for anyone else's purposes.

Hosting

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver pages and protect the site against abuse, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page you request. Cloudflare acts as a processor on my behalf under its data processing agreement. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cloudflare keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the website. I have no access to these logs. They are kept and deleted under Cloudflare's own retention policy.

Visitor statistics

To understand which pages are useful and how fast the site loads for real visitors, this website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is designed to be privacy-first:

  • It does not use cookies, local storage or any other storage on your device.
  • It does not fingerprint you or recognise you across visits or websites.
  • It only produces aggregated statistics: page views, the referring website, browser and device type, country, and page load performance.

Because nothing is stored on or read back from your device to recognise you, and the statistics have little to no impact on your privacy, no consent is required. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in improving this website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare processes this data as my processor.

Theme preference

If you click the light/dark theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It stays on your device, is never sent to me or anyone else, and is only saved when you click the switch yourself. You can remove it by clearing your browser's site data.

Offline support

So the site also works on a poor connection, your browser keeps a copy of this website's own pages and images, much like its normal cache. This copy contains no personal data or identifiers and is never sent anywhere. It is replaced with every update of the site, and you can remove it by clearing your browser's site data.

Contact by email

If you email me, I use your name, email address and message only to reply and to follow up on your request. I keep this correspondence as long as needed for that purpose, or longer where Dutch law requires it, for example for business administration.

International transfers

Cloudflare is a US company with a global network, so data may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Cloudflare's data processing agreement.

Links to other websites

This website links to LinkedIn, GitHub and Microsoft Learn. These links don't load anything until you click them. Once you visit those sites, their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

In practice, the only personal data I hold is email correspondence. For those emails you have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Email [email protected] and I will respond within one month.

Website visits and statistics can't be linked to you as a person, so I can't look up, hand over or delete data about your visit (Article 11 GDPR).

You can always file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If the way this website handles data changes, this statement is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
